"Eye-Care Essentials for Computer Users"

Many of you have jobs that require you to work on the computer. These strenuous computer-intensive work conditions have given rise to what is known as Computer Vision Syndrome.

However, studies have found no indication that working on a computer screen causes permanent vision problems. Short-term problems, such as tiredness, irritated or watery eyes, do bother a majority of people who work at computers, but these problems can usually be corrected by wearing a special pair of glasses for computer work, adjusting lighting in the workplace and altering the position of the computer screen.

Follow these tips to Prevent Eye strain from computers
  1. Keep 30cm minimum distance between your eyes and computers.
  2. Get atleast 2 minutes break for every hour and 15 to 30 minutes break for every 3 or 4 hours.
  3. Wash your face and eyes thoroughly in every 3 to 4 hours break.
  4. Avoid working on your computer in complete darkness or very low light conditions, as computer screen emits electromagnetic radiations which are hazardous to your eyes.
  5. Blink your eyes to make tears secrete, keep the eyes wet.
  6. Prevent dryness of your eyes by using the lubricating eye drops.
  7. Use anti-glare optically coated glass on your screen.
  8. Limit contact lens wear.
  9. Switch off your monitor while you are thinking.
  10. Eat fresh vegetables and fruits with better Vitamin-A.
  11. Don’t keep bright light directly behind the screen.
