"Hidden Dangers of Packaged Food"

Many working couples and students living alone prefer to have packaged foods due to their busy schedules, but doctors warn against this trend. Food manufacturers use preservatives, to sustain the freshness of products and prevent the growth of pathological microorganisms. Some preservatives may cause medical conditions or diseases

Tips to avoid harmful preservatives in your diet:
  • Eat fresh, whole foods that are cooked by you.
  • Avoid processed or pre-packed foods as much as you can.
  • Take them home in paper, not plastic, bags 
  • Do not microwave in plastic or cardboard, using glass or ceramic containers.
  • Avoid plastic containers from heating up, such as bottled water sitting in the sun
  • Go organic

People today consume a lot more processed food than they used to. This type of food may be fast and convenient, but not all the ingredients are healthy to eat. Although food preservatives help keep food from spoiling. Some types of preservatives may lead to health problems such as:

 Organic foods are better for fighting cancer. And people eating organic food have improved immune system, better sleeping habits and are less likely to be overweight than when eating "conventional" foods.
